Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy that involves placement of acupuncture needles into specific sites on the body to restore the flow of qi (life energy), which in turn alleviates symptoms and improves functioning. Sterile, disposable needles are used. A sense of calm and relaxation is often felt after treatment.

Cancer Wellness Program focuses on those living with cancer from the time of diagnosis, through medical treatment and beyond to survivorship. The program promotes the creation of a personal healing plan that incorporates lifestyle changes, mind-body interventions and quality medical care.

CranioSacral Therapy is a manual therapy that encourages your own natural health mechanisms to dissipate the negative effects of stress on your central nervous system. The therapy helps the body correct restrictions that it has been unable to overcome on its own, while improving overall health and resistance to disease.

Energy Work such as Reiki is the manipulation of subtle energies in the body to promote healing and symptom relief. In these therapies, touch, if used, is light.

Fibromyalgia Consultations are available to help patients better understand their condition and treat related symptoms. Fibromyalgia is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder that complementary medicine can help treat.

Massage for Cancer Patients is a form of therapy that promotes comfort and relaxation. Special attention is given to symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, pain and swelling. Nourishing and supporting the organ systems can boost the immune system and improve tolerance and recovery from side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Nurturing the body can restore a sense of well-being and wholeness.

The Cancer Guide  is a companion and resource whose role is to help people with cancer navigate the complex choices related to their care. The Guide’s focus is on the whole person, not only the disease.

Massage Therapy is a nurturing and therapeutic experience. The therapist uses diverse hands-on techniques based on the unique needs of the person being treated. The experience can be relaxing, or stimulating, and can be helpful in easing pain and tension while improving physical and psychological functioning.

Mind Body Therapy supports individuals in processing where and how emotions are held in the body. The process involves expanding the breath, and reducing patterns of muscular tension, while relieving headaches, chronic pain, depression, grief, anger, sorrow, anxiety and other forms of suffering and emotional trauma.

Naturopathy is an approach to wellness and disease that focuses on aiding the body’s natural healing capacity using nutrition, supplements and herbs. Homeopathy is often included, which is the prescriptive use of dilute substances created to stimulate the body’s own healing responses.

Pilates
consists of a series of controlled, flowing movements that will not only improve your shape, but will also promote greater strength, flexibility and coordination. Each movement is carried out with balance and precision consisting of focused concentration and flowing breath, maintaining a constant connection between mind and body. The exercises work your core muscles, the deep muscles that support your spine and pelvis, to improve posture and build a strong base to support your body. The Pilates Method is used to increase movement potential at any age and is appropriate for a wide range of physical levels.

Stress Reduction Manage your stress and manage your health with GHC-SCW's Stress Reduction classes.

Tai Chi is a martial art and a mindful practice that combines breath with action. The relaxed, continuous movement of Tai Chi increases our flexiblity, strengthens our bodies, restores balance, and generates peace of mind. The emphasis on slow motion helps us understand the philosophical principle of the constant interchange of Yin/Yang. Those who practice Tai Chi learn to develop softness, agility, and resilience which prepares us to navigate the world.

Wellness Evaluation allows for a GHC-SCW Complementary Medicine physician to conduct comprehensive evaluations and treatment plans for patients who desire them or for patients who have been referred for this service by their Primary Care Practitioner (PCP).
